841 Thomas AttreeNames on the buses
Connections with Brighton and Hove : In the early nineteenth century, there were few more powerful figures than Thomas Attree. He was the son of William Attree, clerk to the Commissioners and also vestry clerk. Sir Charles Barry designed for Attree the Italian Villa in Queen’s Park, later known as Attree House. This magnificent villa eventually became a private school for the Xaverian order and sadly was demolished in 1970. Attree also bought the whole of Brighton Park in the east of the town and with the permission of King William IV called it Queen’s Park after Queen Adelaide. The name remains today.
