744 Sue Addis

Connections with Brighton and Hove : Sue Addis, with her husband Pietro, ran two highly successful Italian restaurants in Brighton, Pinocchio in New Road and Donatello in Brighton Place. Sue and Pietro met in 1967 when dancing in London, where Pietro was working at the Italian Embassy. They opened their restaurant in Brighton with a new concept of standard price, two and three course meals; it was a great success, leading to a second restaurant. The family were a supporter of the local Brighton & Hove Albion team and sponsored the club for many years. Sue was a passionate advocate for the business community in Brighton and helped out in many charitable ventures, including the annual Argus Appeal and as a judge on the ‘Brighton & Hove in Bloom’ garden competition. She was immensely generous to a wide range of good causes and her enthusiasm was obvious in all her endeavours, whether heading a successful restaurant business or helping the less fortunate in society. Sue was a lover of the arts and a great patron, supporting many venues and organisations. Her passion was for dance and in her youth had been a dancer with Ballet Rambert.
