Connections with Brighton and Hove : Football commentator Peter Brackley had a long and distinguished career which showed his great love for the game. He started on BBC Radio Brighton in the 1970s before switching to television and working for both ITV and Sky. Brackley enjoyed covering matches for Football Italia during the 1990s He worked on four World Cups and two European championships for ITV. In later years he did a lot of work for Brighton and Hove Albion’s community interests and he was a great fan of the Seagulls. He was a successful impressionist and provided some of the voices for the Spitting Image puppets. Brackley also appeared on the popular TV show Saint and Greasier. A gregarious man, Brackley had many friends in the media and scores of them attended his funeral. Latterly he suffered from poor health and died in 2018 aged 67. But he kept working until near the end by writing a column for The Argus.
