TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS FOR MARATHON - SUNDAY 6 APRIL 2014
From 0800 until 1500, Church Road and New Church Road
will be closed west of The Drive, and the southern part of Boundary Road will be
also closed.
Westbound buses will operate from
LATE CHANGE - Eastbound buses will now also operate from Blatchington Road via Eaton Road and Selbourne Road to Palmeira Square. Also due to Upper Gloucester Road being closed changes have been made to routes 7 and 27 at Brighton Station.
Route 1 will operate in both directions via
Buses from the west turning at Churchill Square
Eastbound buses terminating in Western Road will
operate via Montpelier Road, Upper North Street and Regent Hill to the Clarence
Square stop, returning via normal route.

Routes 1/1A
From 0700 until 1130, these services will operate
between Mile Oak and Churchill Square/Gala Bingo and Whitehawk only.
Routes 2/2A
From 0700 until 1130 these services will operate
between Steyning/Shoreham and
The section of route between Churchill Square and
Rottingdean will be suspended until 1130 for eastbound buses. The first
westbound departures from South Woodingdean will be at 1250 and from Rottingdean
at 1341 – alternative services in Woodingdean and Sutherland Road will be
available on diverted Routes 14 & 27 (not Route 12/12A – this will
operate non-stop).
Routes 5/5A/5B
From 0700 until 1130 these services will operate
between Hangleton and
Until 1030, a shuttle service will operate between
Patcham (Mackie Avenue) and Surrenden Road/Loder Road via Braybon Avenue on
Route 5, and between Hollingbury (ASDA) and Surrenden Road/Loder Road on Route
5B. Normal services from Patcham and Hollingbury will start to resume from 1030,
but until 1130 buses will run only as far as Preston Circus.
Route 6
Normal service, but via
Route 7
From 0700 until 1130 this service will operate between

1130/1200 during which time an alternative service on Route 23 will run every 15
minutes between the Marina and Gala Bingo.
Routes 12/12A
From 0700 until 1130, buses will start and terminate at
Gala Bingo, operating non stop between Gala Bingo and Rottingdean via
Freshfield Road, Race Hill,
Woodingdean and
From 1130 until 1330, buses will start from/terminate
at Churchill Square as normal, but will run non stop between North Street/Old
Steine and Rottingdean via Edward Street then diversion route as above.
Normal service will resume at 1330, except that, until
1700, the Sea Life Centre and New Steine stops cannot be served. Westbound buses
will operate via Rock Gardens and
Route 13X
Until 1300, buses will terminate at

From 0700 until 1130, buses will start and terminate at
Gala Bingo, operating via Route 2 (Sutherland Road, Race Hill, Woodingdean,
Kipling Avenue, South Woodingdean and Falmer Road) to Rottingdean.
From 1130 until 1330, buses will start from/terminate
at Churchill Square as normal, but will run via St.James Street and Rock Gardens
then via the 2 route as above to Rottingdean (westbound buses via Eastern Road
and Edward Street).
Westbound Route14C journeys before 0900 will run via
Wilson Avenue and Eastern Road to serve the Sussex County Hospital.
Normal service will resume at 1300, except that, until
1700, the Sea Life Centre and New Steine stops cannot be served. Westbound buses
will operate via Rock Gardens and
Route 21
Until 1130, buses from the
Route 22
Until 1130, buses will run between Woodingdean and
Lewes Road Bus Garage only, operating via Hartington Road between Race Hill and
the Garage.
Route 23
Normal service, except that, until 1130, buses will
operate via Elm Grove, Ryde Road and Hartington Road between Queens Park
Junction and Lewes Road Garage. From 0700 until 1200 additional buses will run
between Brighton Marina and Gala Bingo, replacing Route 7. From 0900 onwards
these extra buses will be extended via Queens Park to/from Lewes Road Garage,
replacing Routes 81A/81C on Queens Park Road.
Route 25
From 0700 until 1130, Route 25 will
operate between the Universities and Lewes Road
Garage only.
Until 1130 buses will run between Hollingbury ASDA and
Lewes Road Bus Garage only. Buses returning towards Coldean and ASDA will start
from Lewes Road Sainsburys.
Until 1130, buses will run between Hollingbury ASDA and
Fiveways only. Buses returning towards Hollingbury will start from
Until 1130, buses from Saltdean will run via Ser. 2
route throughout from Rottingdean to terminate at Gala Bingo.
Buses from Tunbridge Wells, Ringmer and Lewes will
terminate at/start from Lewes Road Bus Garage until 1130.
Until 1130 a shuttle service will operate between
Bristol Estate and Kemp Town Shops, running via
Until 1130, buses will run between Southwick and
Until 1130/1200, buses will run between Lewes Road
Sainsburys and Lower Bevendean only. Southbound buses will terminate at the Bus
Garage.
Services from Portslade will be suspended until 1500 –
alternative buses on
Until 1130 only a shuttle service between Lewes Road
Sainsburys and Hollingdean will operate.
This service will be suspended until the 1130 departure
from the Town Centre. For the rest of the day, buses will terminate in Old
Steine at stop Q, and will run via
Until 1200, this service will run between

Beacon and Fiveways only. Northbound buses will start from

This Open Top City Tours will not operate at all.
There will be a lot of extra traffic so buses are likely to have difficulty keeping on time even when the roads re-open.
